Shanghai-based graphics processor developer MetaX has made a confidential filing for a possible Hong Kong initial public offering. The procedure allows the company to begin regulatory review without immediately publishing the prospectus, but it does not mean that an offering has been approved or completed.

The company is targeting a listing before the end of 2026. No proposed valuation, share count or fundraising amount has been disclosed, leaving the scale of the transaction and its effect on existing ownership unresolved.

MetaX is working with Huatai International Financial Holdings on the potential share sale. The appointment places a Hong Kong investment-banking platform alongside the issuer during preparation, although the final syndicate and timetable remain subject to the transaction moving forward.

MetaX did not provide an immediate public confirmation of the filing. The confidential status therefore requires a clear distinction between a preparatory regulatory step and a launched IPO with published terms, investor orders and a pricing date.

The plan follows capital raising by Chinese artificial-intelligence chip developers Biren Technology, Iluvatar CoreX and Moore Threads. Those peers have listed in Shanghai or Hong Kong since late 2025, creating a public-market reference group for domestically developed computing hardware.

Beijing's semiconductor self-reliance policy and U.S. export controls have intensified the need to finance local GPU design and commercialization. Public equity can support research, engineering and market expansion, but the brief filing information does not specify how MetaX would allocate any proceeds.

A completed listing would place MetaX within the same investor contest for capital, engineering talent and customers as the recent chip issuers. The next verifiable milestones are a public prospectus, disclosed financial statements, an approved timetable and the size and price range of the offering.
