Middle East buyers test Canadian LNG as a Hormuz hedge before Woodfibre starts
Pacific Energy says Middle Eastern companies are seeking Canadian LNG cargoes, equity and offtake positions as disruption around the Strait of Hormuz reshapes supply-security planning. Woodfibre LNG’s 2.1 million tonnes a year are already contracted to BP and first exports are targeted for December 2027, so current approaches do not represent available spot supply or signed new deals.

Oil prices surged past $90 per barrel after Yemen's Houthi rebels declared a maritime blockade on Saudi vessels, threatening Red Sea exports.
